Combo of Traditional Liver Herbs Improves Liver Enzymes

Milk thistle flowers and seeds, dried dandelion root, fresh turmeric and ginger roots on a wooden board

By Linda Woolven and Ted Snider, The Natural Path

The modern world has confronted our livers with unexpected and unprecedented challenges. Traditional herbs may help provide the answer.

This new study combined four traditional liver herbs: milk thistle, dandelion, turmeric and ginger.

Compared to placebo, improvements in all four liver enzymes, ALT, AST, ALP, and GGT were significantly greater when the herbs were given to people with normal liver function. Liver fibrosis (APRI) also improved significantly more on the herbs, as did cholesterol and markers of inflammation.

Once again, modern science is validating traditional herbs for modern problems.
